The contest only came to life early in the second half when the visitors struck, Harry Leonard’s free kick glancing in off team-mate Jimmy-Jay Morgan to hand the Chelsea loanee a debut goal.
Huddersfield responded quickly as Will Alves, another deadline-day arrival, slid in to convert Lasse Sorensen’s cross. Seven minutes later Herbie Kane turned the match around, thundering in a 25-yard effort that took a slight deflection on its way past the keeper.
Peterborough threatened a comeback when Joe Taylor, who had earlier struck the post after closing down Alex Bass, levelled in stoppage time by latching onto Alfie May’s pass and slotting through the goalkeeper’s legs.

But Huddersfield were not to be denied. Deep into added time, Cian Hayes tapped in from Matthew Garbett’s cross to seal the win and render Taylor’s strike meaningless for the visitors.
Which players stood out for Huddersfield?
Lasse Sorensen | He grew in composure throughout the match and delivered an excellent cross for the equaliser.
Will Alves | Showed real drive to get into the box and bring Huddersfield level. A bright and purposeful contribution from the bench.
Leo Castledine | Energetic and inventive, he added urgency and creativity just when Huddersfield required it.
David Kasumu | Introduced late on but injected valuable energy into the midfield during the closing stages.
The Peterborough perspective
Despite the defeat, a number of Peterborough fans were positive about the performance. There was clearly some good elements to their display as they look to eventually start climbing the table.
