Burnley v Nottingham Forest |
Scott Parker’s team have struggled to find wins in the top flight, but they can take confidence from a formidable run of nine consecutive home victories against the Bluebirds.
A closer look at Burnley’s current form
The Clarets have endured a testing start to life back in the Premier League, winning only once in their opening five matches. Their most recent outing brought a 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest, stretching their winless run to three games. Even so, Turf Moor has offered some comfort, with both of their victories this season coming at home. Cardiff, in particular, have long found it a difficult place to visit.
Logan, a Burnley fan, reflected on the draw and the team’s display. He said: "The Burnley side of two years ago would have lost that game on Saturday, and probably by a heavy margin. However, Scott Parker's new Clarets have something the old side lacked: mental toughness.
"Going behind so early is a nightmare for our team. The manager’s plans go out of the window straight away, and the players are left chasing. That is especially difficult for a side like Burnley, who are set up to stay compact and hit on the counter. So it was encouraging to see such a strong mentality and determination to fight back.
"If we had been a little sharper and more clinical in front of goal, we could easily have won by at least two."

Team news for Burnley
Parker’s options remain limited by injuries. Zeki Amdouni and Jacob Bruun Larsen are long-term absentees, while defenders Connor Roberts and Jordan Beyer are also ruled out. The manager is likely to rotate heavily for this fixture, with fringe players set to be given an opportunity.
Team news for Cardiff City
Cardiff manager Brian Barry-Murphy is also expected to make changes following their first defeat in 11 matches at the weekend. The League One side are not burdened by significant injury problems and could turn again to players who impressed earlier in the competition, among them former Arsenal defender Calum Chambers.
