Fer Lopez was the star as Wolves secured their first away league win in 489 days with an impressive victory at Preston North End.

Lopez, who joined from Celta Vigo for £19m last summer, scored either side of Adam Armstrong's goal to earn his side their first league win on the road since April 2025, when they beat Manchester United in the Premier League.

The Spaniard opened the scoring after just eight minutes with a superb individual effort, having collected the ball inside his own half.

Two more well-worked goals followed after the break as Cesar Peixoto's side underlined their quality.

Preston's Jordan Thompson pulled one back in stoppage time with a composed strike from outside the area, but North End were left with two defeats from their opening two league matches.
