Newcastle fought back from two goals down to earn a hard-fought Premier League point at home to Bournemouth, with Jacob Ramsey rescuing them with a late equaliser.
The Cherries made an early breakthrough
Alex Scott's deflected shot looped into the box, allowing Marcus Tavernier to steal a couple of yards on Amar Dedic at the back post and poke the ball beneath Lukas Hornicek.
Newcastle supporters booed the officials after the goal, unhappy with what they believed was a foul in the build-up following a tussle between Adrien Truffert and Anthony Elanga.
Bournemouth doubled their lead when Justin Kluivert's fizzing effort from distance struck the post, bounced off Hornicek's back and fell to Scott.
The former England Under-21 midfielder's attempt from a tight angle took a deflection off Malick Thiaw and looped beyond Hornicek, with the goal eventually credited as an own goal.
Newcastle responded almost immediately when Harvey Barnes cut in from the left and curled a superb right-footed effort into the top corner.
A breathless and entertaining first half gave way to a second period that became more of an arm wrestle.
Newcastle introduced Belgium forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo for his debut in the 63rd minute, the £51m signing from Lille brought on before the transfer window closed in an attempt to inject fresh impetus.

However, Ramsey struck with two minutes of normal time remaining.
A Newcastle attack culminated with Thiaw, with his back to goal, knocking the ball down inside the area. Ramsey reacted quickest to drill a low, cushioned finish into the corner and secure a point for the hosts.
