Jon Bennison handed York an early advantage in the fourth minute as they chased a first win away to the Robins since 1958.

However, that proved to be the high point of the afternoon for the visitors. Tries from Tom Davies, Mikey Lewis, Joe Burgess and James Batchelor helped Hull KR establish a commanding 22-6 lead by half-time.

The Robins were not at their fluent best throughout, but further scores from Davies, Jack Broadbent and Rhyse Martin ensured they responded positively after successive defeats in the league and cup.

York announced themselves in Super League with one of the competition's most memorable upsets when they stunned the reigning champions on their debut, but results have since followed a more familiar pattern.

Having lost three of their opening four league fixtures, Hull KR have climbed to third place after winning eight of their last nine matches.

York, meanwhile, have found it difficult to maintain the momentum from their dream start to life in the top flight. A 10th defeat in 11 league games leaves them second from bottom, two points clear of the basement club, Huddersfield Giants.
