Rangers and RB Salzburg have reached an agreement for Danny Röhl to take charge of the Austrian Bundesliga side.

It is believed that Derek McInnes will be next to take charge at Ibrox

Outside Ibrox

The 37-year-old will leave Ibrox despite having publicly stated his commitment to overseeing the club's summer rebuild.

Rangers endured a disappointing campaign, finishing third in the Scottish Premiership. They were also beaten by Celtic in the League Cup semi-finals before suffering a Scottish Cup quarter-final exit at the hands of their Old Firm rivals.

Röhl succeeded Russell Martin in October and still had two years remaining on his contract in Govan.

The German had received assurances over his position at Rangers, but it is understood the club's hierarchy have continued to assess their options since May.

His departure means Rangers are once again searching for a manager, with this set to be the sixth permanent appointment since Steven Gerrard left in November 2021 after delivering the club's most recent Premiership title.

The man to replace him

The club are now finalising a deal to appoint Derek McInnes as their new head coach. As previously reported across different outlets, McInnes has agreed terms on a three-year contract. Rangers and Hearts are now working through the final details required to complete the move.

The start of a huge summer for the club

Rangers have already begun reshaping the club ahead of the new season. New chief executive Jim Gillespie, executive director Fraser Thornton, technical director Dan Purdy and consultant Stig Inge Bjørnebye have been working alongside the coaching staff as plans gather pace to strengthen the squad.
