Foster's 95th-minute goal secured Burnley their first away win of the season, leaving Wolves without a victory and anchored at the bottom of the Premier League.

The substitute struck late, just as it seemed Wolves had secured a point after coming back from a 2-0 deficit.

Zian Flemming's first-half double had put Burnley in control, but Jorgen Strand Larsen's penalty and Marshall Munetsi's header brought the hosts level before half-time.

The Clarets look much better equipped to make a fight of staying up

Back-to-back wins, the first time they have achieved this in the Premier League for more than three years, also take them eight points clear of Wolves.

Aside from a 5-1 defeat at Manchester City and the opening-day loss at Tottenham, Scott Parker's side have generally held their own.

Narrow defeats to Manchester United and Liverpool were painful, and they showed resilience against Aston Villa at the start of October.

By beating Sunderland, Leeds and Wolves this season, the Clarets are doing exactly what is required, securing victories against their closest rivals, which will be crucial for their survival.

Premier League | Wolves v Burnley | Post-match celebrations from away end
Post-match celebrations

Niall: Excellent performance despite a highly questionable penalty. We stayed strong and fully deserved the win.

Dave: Beyond the victory, the key takeaway is that the team is consistently finding the net, something that has been lacking in previous games.

Jon: The game should have been decided by half-time. Flemming’s finish for Burnley’s first was exceptional. Wolves capitalised on that and looked much stronger in the second half. Dubravka’s save right at the end was outstanding.

Scott: The players relied on luck in the second half after surrendering a comfortable lead in the first-half. Wolves rallied and threatened to complete their comeback. However, we held firm and now appear much better placed to mount a fight to stay in the league this season.

Angry response from the home support

Rick: Wolves have an identity, which the manager insists we need. I don’t understand why some say we don’t. We play, concede, and lose. That is an identity. I feel really sorry for Vitor. He saved us last year, but things keep going wrong. Something has to change, though I’m not convinced that changing the manager is always the answer.

Jess: Terrible match. Neither side was impressive, but Burnley fully deserved the win. O’Neil was dismissed for less. Very disappointing.

Anton: The team lacks creativity and a genuine goal scorer. The Championship now seems the only realistic destination for Wolves.
