We kept up our brilliant start to the season with another cracking win, this time under the lights at home to Fulham on Friday night. So after all the nerves going into the new campaign, is it maybe time for us Cherries fans to start setting our sights a little higher?

Plenty of people, fans and pundits alike, thought we would struggle to match last season’s ninth-place finish. And to be fair, you could see why. Adam Smith was the only one left from our regular backline, and even he has already missed a few games through injury.

The club worked hard to replace what we had lost, but most of us expected the new lads to take a bit of time to find their feet and get used to Andoni Iraola’s intense, high-energy style. Turns out, we did not need to worry. The new signings have settled in incredibly fast, and as it stands, we are sitting joint third in the Premier League table. Not bad for a side that was supposedly set for a difficult season.

Djordje Petrovic looks like an upgrade on every keeper we had last season, while Bafode Diakite has formed a proper partnership with Marcos Senesi at the back. Adrien Truffert on the left has been absolutely flying, playing like the finished version of Milos Kerkez.

We have always had goals in us, especially with the way Andoni sets us up, but to look this solid defensively after such big changes is seriously impressive.

It is still early days, of course, but I do not think it is too bold to say that our best-ever Premier League finish might just be within reach. And if we keep playing like this, who is to say we cannot dream a bit?

After that Friday night win over Fulham, I spoke to a number of Bournemouth fans who were delighted with the win and performance. One of those was Pete, he told me: "On cloud nine at the moment. These are great times to be a Bournemouth fan."

Exciting times ahead then.
