Reports suggest the Sweden international is open to a move to the City Ground after finding opportunities limited towards the end of last season under Tottenham head coach Roberto de Zerbi, often being deployed away from his preferred holding midfield role.

Lucas Bergvall celebrates Spurs goal

Asked about the prospect of new arrivals during his first press conference as Forest manager on Thursday, Oliver Glasner did not mention Bergvall by name but hinted that reinforcements are expected.

"I have one strength and weakness, it's impatience. Sometimes it's a strength, sometimes it's a weakness.

"Of course, I would have hoped they already trained with us on the other side.

"It's impossible because the players we're now talking to they play at the World Cup so are still on vacation. I'm pretty convinced we will have a few players joining us in Portugal."

A closer look at the player

Bergvall joined Tottenham from Swedish side Djurgarden in 2024 and was named the club's player of the year after an impressive debut Premier League campaign, which ended with Spurs lifting the Europa League to end a 17-year trophy drought.

He signed a new contract until 2031 in April 2025.

The 20-year-old made 33 appearances last season but missed two months after undergoing ankle surgery.

Bergvall has won 14 caps for Sweden and featured at the World Cup, where they were knocked out by France in the last 32.

Forest are also expected to strengthen in midfield following Elliot Anderson's club record move to Manchester City.

However, the club are focusing on quality rather than quantity this summer, rather than repeating last year's 13-player, £180m recruitment drive.

A goalkeeper is also on the wishlist to provide competition for Matz Sels and John Victor, while Forest are keen to add another striker to support Chris Wood, who turns 35 in December, and Igor Jesus.
