The visitors had gone four weeks without scoring in the top flight, their last goal coming from Lukas Nmecha’s late penalty against Everton on 18 August. Yet they responded impressively to Ladislav Krejci’s well-taken opener and left Molineux with all three points.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin levelled with a towering header from Jayden Bogle’s deflected cross before Anton Stach’s precise free-kick turned the game on its head. On the stroke of half-time Noah Okafor raced on to Stach’s through ball and slotted a low finish into the far corner.

Wolves introduced Jorgen Strand Larsen, Marshall Munetsi and Hugo Bueno at half-time in search of a response but the reshuffle brought little change. Munetsi’s looping header, brilliantly tipped over by Karl Darlow, was the closest they came to reducing the deficit.

Vitor Pereira’s side have now lost their opening five league fixtures, becoming only the sixth team in Premier League history to do so. Leeds climb into the top half after a commanding display.

It all started so well for Wolves

Leeds finally rediscover their scoring touch

Leeds arrived at Molineux with questions hanging over their attack after three consecutive goalless league games. By the interval they had answered emphatically with three well-crafted strikes.

Calvert-Lewin, often judged on his fitness record in recent years, showed his value with a trademark header that recalled the aerial prowess of his peak years. Stach’s curling free-kick moments later was even better, bending unerringly into the top corner after Calvert-Lewin had been fouled.

Okafor’s composed finish on the brink of half-time ensured Leeds had scored three first-half goals in an away game for the first time since their 5-0 win at West Brom in December 2020.

Daniel Farke’s team adopted a more cautious approach after the break, content to limit Wolves while threatening on the counter. Their advantage was rarely in serious danger and they comfortably saw out a first Premier League away win since beating Wolves 4-2 at the same ground in March 2023.
