Much of the fan reaction has been centred around the manager.

Let's explore what those around Glasgow have had to say

Paul: Russell Martin needs to go now. His tactics are not working and he has run out of excuses.

Greg: Another European night, another red card, another 10-man slog, another hard watch, another loss. Some of the summer signings tried, others did not. I would play Findlay Curtis well before both Mikey Moore and Oliver Antman. Martin is so stubborn it may well be the end of him as Rangers manager sooner rather than later.

Stephen: All I hear from this manager is that the team is learning a lot, yet performances remain flat and woeful. Genk had the better chances before the red card. Having said that, Mohamed Diomande let everyone down with his mistake. The atmosphere was flat, largely because the fans have lost belief in this team and manager.

Garry: How the mighty fall. We have never really recovered from relegation into the lower tier of Scottish football. There were hopes under this new regime of moving forward, but it seems that is not going to happen and perhaps the sooner we accept it, the better for our sanity. Changes need to be made, and soon.

Janet: Absolutely disgraceful that this man was even given an interview, let alone the job. Rangers deserve a top-class manager who has actually won things after the last 15 turbulent years.

Jonathan: Same again, no direction in a mediocre team. When will the club face facts? The team needs change, as does the coaching staff. Rock-bottom performance, totally at odds with the manager’s post-match thoughts. He is accountable for this disaster but will not admit it, as it is his team and his style of play.

Maggie: We have had some truly memorable European nights at Ibrox in recent years. This was not one of them. Same pedestrian play, some players out of position. Martin’s tactics are all wrong. I did not want him as manager but was prepared to give him a chance. He has had enough chances now and if he had any decency, he would walk.
