Joe Burgess claimed a second successive hat-trick as the Robins strengthened their grip on a first League Leaders’ Shield in the Super League era. Jez Litten, Rhyse Martin, Mikey Lewis and Arthur Mourgue also crossed in a commanding 36-6 win in the East Yorkshire sunshine.
The victory restored Hull KR’s four-point cushion at the summit, while Castleford, fielding only 18 fit players under interim coach Chris Chester, remain 10th.
An early handling error from Louis Senior invited fears of a heavy defeat for the visitors, yet they defended with determination and almost struck first when Sam Wood broke the line, only to fumble under pressure with Jenson Windley in support.

After a sluggish opening 20 minutes, the league leaders found their rhythm. Lewis sparked the move for Burgess’s opening try before a late hit on the stand-off earned Jeremiah Simbiken a sin-binning. The extra man quickly told, with Jack Broadbent releasing Burgess for his second.
Castleford hit back through Alex Mellor, who leapt above Broadbent to collect Jacob Asi’s kick and score under the posts. But Litten’s opportunist dart from dummy-half restored the hosts’ control before the interval.

Senior thought he had crossed early in the second half, only for the try to be ruled out for a knock-on. Hull KR responded with Martin’s score, followed by Lewis’s finish from Burgess’s break.
Mourgue added a stylish solo effort, stepping past two defenders, before Broadbent’s pass sent Burgess in for his third to seal a comfortable win.
Which players stood out
Joe Burgess
Outstanding performance again. He achieved a hat-trick of tries, but his contribution was much more than that.
Jack Broadbent
There were some shaky moments in defense, but those were more than compensated for by a strong performance in attack.
Jez Litten
He displayed great class, timing his attacks effectively, which resulted in a try. Will be a vital player for the team between now and the end of the season.
