Nottingham | Neco Williams extends Forest stay

Another positive for a news for a club preparing for its first European campaign since the mid 90s. 

Nottingham Forest defender Neco Williams has signed a new four-year contract that will keep him at the City Ground until the summer of 2029.

The 24-year-old Wales international joined Forest from Liverpool in July 2022 in a £17m deal and has since made 107 appearances for the club in all competitions.

Williams, whose previous contract was due to run until 2026, played a key role in helping Forest finish seventh in the Premier League last season, securing European football for the first time since the 1994-95 campaign, when they finished third.

Neco Williams opened his Premier League account at Anfield in April during his debut season for Forest, marking the start of his growing influence in the side. 

He played a key part in helping the club retain its top-flight status in the 2023-24 campaign, with his performances earning widespread praise.

The Wales international was named the club's  Player of the Month for February, March and April.

His energy, composure and determined defensive work were central to Forest’s successful 2024-25 campaign. He also got off the mark at the City Ground this year, scoring in the emphatic 7-0 win over Brighton in February.

A good bit news for our club

Speaking to Frank Carter, another Nottingham Forest season ticket holder, said: "This is another bit of good news for our club. This announcement means we can start next season on some really good foundations."
