Victor Munoz may not boast the headline numbers that immediately catch the eye, but a closer look reveals why Andoni Iraola is so keen to bring him to Anfield.

Playing in a side that finished 17th in La Liga, the 22-year-old still completed 75 dribbles, the fourth-highest total in the division. Only Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappe ranked higher among forwards, while Munoz also finished ahead of Athletic Club's Nico Williams.

That is impressive company for a young Spanish attacker who often operates in deeper areas and thrives with the ball at his feet.

The numbers become even more striking when it comes to progressing play. Munoz recorded 318 progressive carries, the ninth-highest figure in La Liga, placing him alongside the likes of Vinicius Junior, Lamine Yamal and Pedri in a category usually dominated by high-volume attackers and attacking full-backs.

For a player in a struggling team, it underlines the level of responsibility he assumed.

The end product is still evolving, with six goals and two assists in 34 league appearances, but it is the underlying profile that Liverpool are investing in. Munoz is a press-resistant ball carrier who drives his side forward, breaks lines with his dribbling and regularly helps move play into the final third.

In a squad built on intensity and attacking intent, he appears a natural fit.
