The 33-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Serie A side Roma in June 2017, confirmed the news in a video message on his social media accounts.
"Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell. I will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season."
The forward signed a new two-year contract with Liverpool in April 2025. However, he will leave on a free transfer after the club said they had "reached an agreement" over his future.
A difficult end to a memorable Anfield career
By his own high standards, it has been a challenging campaign for Mohamed Salah.
The forward has scored 10 goals in 34 appearances in all competitions and is on course to record his lowest seasonal return since joining Liverpool.
In December, after a 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah told reporters he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club and suggested his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down.
There was speculation over a potential January departure, but Salah returned to the side following his involvement in the Africa Cup of Nations.
It remains unclear where Salah will play next season after his expected departure from Anfield.
