Ryan Sessegnon, Harry Wilson and an own goal from Yerson Mosquera brought an end to Fulham’s four-game losing streak, as Wolves’ Emmanuel Agbadou was sent off during a miserable afternoon for the visitors.

Wolves offered little to suggest their poor form would change in west London, slipping to an eighth defeat in ten league matches. Pressure continues to mount on Vitor Pereira, who still retains the backing of the Molineux hierarchy, but his side now sit eight points from safety and appear increasingly isolated near the foot of the table.

Fulham struck early when Sessegnon punished a defensive lapse from Santi Bueno, and Wolves’ task became even harder nine minutes before the break when Agbadou saw red for a clumsy challenge on Josh King that denied a clear scoring chance.

The visitors never recovered. Sam Johnstone was called upon to deny Kenny Tete and Wilson, but the Welshman sealed victory with a precise low drive from 20 yards to lift Fulham to 14th in the table.

Mosquera’s own goal with a quarter of an hour remaining deepened Wolves’ woes, while Samuel Chukwueze struck the crossbar late on as Marco Silva’s side finished strongly.

A performance and a result which got their manager the sack

Wolves went into their meeting with Fulham desperate for a result against a side who had lost four on the bounce, but instead produced their most dismal display since Vitor Pereira took charge.

It came as little surprise, then, when the club dismissed the 57-year-old. Having sought stability and continuity, Wolves now find themselves looking for a fifth permanent manager in as many years.

Going into the international break after next weekend’s matches, Wolves must regroup quickly or they could face a very early relegation.
