Daniel Munoz’s neat 37th-minute finish had put the in-form Eagles on course for a third consecutive Premier League victory, as well as three straight wins on the road.

Everton were second best for long periods, with Tyrick Mitchell striking the post before Munoz scored for the second game running.

Ismaila Sarr set up the Colombian wing-back in space on the right side of the box, with Munoz poking the ball past Jordan Pickford, who was making his 300th Premier League appearance for Everton.

The Toffees, who brought on teenagers Tyler Dibling and Thierno Barry at the start of the second half, played with greater tempo after the break.

They levelled in the 76th minute when Iliman Ndiaye converted a penalty following a clumsy challenge by Maxence Lacroix on substitute Tim Iroegbunam.

The match looked set to end in a draw until Grealish, on loan from Manchester City, scored his first goal for Everton after Beto’s header was saved at close range by Dean Henderson.

This was Palace’s first defeat in all competitions since 16 April.

Grealish for England?

Super News Football 2025 | Premier League | Everton v Crystal Palace | Jack Grealish

Grealish, playing his final game for three weeks as he is ineligible to face parent club Manchester City in Everton’s first match after the international break, has already impressed with four Premier League assists since arriving.

David Moyes noted in his pre-match news conference that he wanted to see his number 18 score more, and Grealish delivered, netting his first Premier League goal since 2 April to secure Everton’s first league win since August.

Everton fans respond to drama

Alvin: After a woeful first half in which we deserved to be 1-0 down, the second half was a huge improvement. Very shrewd substitutions and Carlos Alcaraz really brought much-needed energy to the team. Excellent defending from James Tarkowski and Michael Keane. Fantastic to see Jack Grealish on the scoresheet. COYB. We’ve shown we can win even when it isn’t pretty. Superb result.

Stephen: A solid win and three valuable points. Sloppy in the first half, but much better after the break. Pleased to see Grealish score. We will need to play more consistently if we are to sustain this run.

Kenneth: Poor first half, but the team showed resilience and determination. Palace probably deserved a draw but football does not always work like that. Great to see Jack score his first goal for the Blues and full credit to Iliman Ndiaye for a composed penalty. Onwards and upwards. A very good result, even if not a perfect performance. The international break gives us a chance to work on a few things.
