The Bundesliga club made contact earlier in July but were quickly informed that Liverpool had no intention of parting with the 28-year-old. That position was reiterated on Tuesday when Bayern's formal bid was firmly rejected.

Díaz, who is under contract at Anfield until the summer of 2027, is regarded as a central figure in new head coach Arne Slot’s plans. The club value him in excess of £87m and consider him integral to their ambitions under the Dutchman.

He enjoyed a strong 2024 campaign, scoring 22 goals across all competitions for club and country, including 13 in the Premier League as Liverpool finished the season ten points clear at the top.

The winger, previously linked with Manchester City, is also thought to be on the radar of clubs in Saudi Arabia, although no formal bids have been made from that region this summer.

While Liverpool remain adamant about retaining Díaz, they are active in the market for a striker. The club is understood to have made serious enquiries over Alexander Isak, the Sweden international currently at Newcastle. Discussions are ongoing, with Liverpool also sounding out alternative options should a move for Isak prove unworkable.

Are Liverpool considering the sale?

Liverpool have invested nearly £200 million this summer and are still looking to acquire a centre-forward, with Newcastle’s Alexander Isak among their top targets.

If they sell players like Luis Díaz and Darwin Núñez, who has attracted interest from Napoli and clubs in Saudi Arabia, they could fund what would need to be a club-record deal for Isak. However, Liverpool understands that the Sweden international is currently not for sale.
