The 28-year-old left-back originally left Glasgow for north London in 2019 in a £25m move, going on to make 144 appearances for Arsenal and scoring six goals, including one in his final outing. He had previously played 170 times for Celtic, scoring eight goals, and spent time on loan at Real Sociedad, where he featured 26 times.
Tierney won his 50th cap for Scotland in last week’s home defeat to Iceland. He has scored once for his country.
Celtic aim to build on momentum
Tierney’s return to Celtic Park was actually confirmed back in February, during the final months of his Arsenal contract.
This season, Brendan Rodgers' side claimed both the Scottish Premiership title and the League Cup, while also reaching the knockout stage of the Champions League.
The Celtic boss told media outlets after the transfer had been announced: "We are so pleased to bring such an elite player back to the club and I look forward to working with him again and the rest of the squad, as we face the many challenges ahead at home and in Europe."

Andy C, a Celtic fan, had this to say: "It’s a great move for the club and a great move for him too. He’s a hugely popular figure around the place. Everyone loves him because wherever he plays, he gives everything. You can see how much he’s developed since leaving, playing alongside top-level players, gaining Champions League experience and then testing himself in Spain.
"He’s nowhere near the end of his career. There’s still plenty of football ahead and he’ll be thinking about winning trophies and proving again that he’s a top-class player."
Andy added: "It could turn out to be one of Celtic’s smartest decisions. Brendan Rodgers got the best out of him the first time and knows exactly what he brings. You wouldn’t be surprised if he’d tried to bring him to Leicester as well. Rodgers clearly trusts him and, looking ahead, you wouldn’t rule out Tierney wearing the captain’s armband one day
